Western tale without any speculative elements. First appeared in Smashing Novels Magazine, December 1936.
Howard's original title was "The Vultures of Wahpeton".
Howard provided two endings, assuming the publisher would choose one. But the editors of Smashing Novels Magazine published both endings.
Treasures of Tartary similarly includes both endings. Other publications use only the most dramatic ending, although the alternative ending is published as a separate item of content in a number of places.
