In the letter, Clarke asks "Worlds of If" readers about the story called "The Anticipator". Clarke had read it years earlier and he thought that it was by H. G. Wells, but he couldn't find any trace of it. As Clarke explained in the essay "Herbert George Morley Roberts Wells, Esq." published in "World of If" in December 1967, it turned out that the author was Morley Roberts.
