"Echo" first appeared in Plaingsongs, a litmag published by Hastings College, in its Winter 1992 issue. [info from archived chizine.com site]; the magazine was actually titled Plainsongs, and there's a 1992 date on that archived page, even though parts 1 and 3 of the story are apparently original.
