George and Mary are childhood sweethearts. Despite a prediction from Mary's grandmother that their two destinies are inextricably linked, George's father disapproves. They are separated and go through many hardships and changes, but are drawn together again and find themselves linked by spiritual closeness, seeing dreams and visions of each other. Although they are again separated, they inevitably marry at last.
