  • Published December 1903 in The London Magazine v11, n65, pp. 596-603, with 6 b/w drawings by Gordon Browne (as credited in the volume index).   There page 603 ends with a note about the author, with thumbnail photo portrait. Quoting its second paragraph: "In The Treasure Seekers, to which and The Would-be-goods this story is a sequel, E. Nesbit told the tale of a family of children ...". No continuation is indicated but next month's Bastable story "Over the Water to China", p731-38, closes with the editorial footer "(In our next month's issue will appear another charming children's story by Mrs. E.   • This story and "Over the Water to China" became (perhaps verbatim?) the first two chapters in the novel, or stories in the collection, the third Bastable book New Treasure Seekers (1904).
