Teen-age Lois revels in being left alone in the house where her mother (gone on a trip for the day) endures an unhappy marriage by constantly cleaning; she scratches the floors which she says are shined with "misery polish". Then another girl her age, who seems familiar, comes in and helps her wreck the place.
