A translation from the Irish. First published as "Keen for Young Ryan" in an unsigned article titled "Specimens of Irish Minstrelsy" in Fraser's Magazine, August 1833. A different translation of a variant of this Irish poem (titled "Shelah Lea's Lamentation: An Ancient Irish Keen," and signed "J.P.") appeared in the Mirror, May 21, 1825.
