Around the World in Eighty Days

Jules Verne

First published 1874
Type Novel

{{Tr|George M. Towle}} and edited by N. D'Anvers [Mrs. Arthur (Nancy) Bell]. This translation begins: "Mr. Phileas Fogg lived, in 1872, at No. 7, Saville Row, Burlington Gardens, the house in which Sheridan died in 1814. He was one of the most noticeable members of the Reform Club, though he seemed always to avoid attracting attention; an enigmatic personage, about whom little was known, except that he was a polished man of the world." and can be distinguished from the original Towle translation by the capitilization of the word Entomologists near the end of the second paragraph as opposed to the original which does not use the capital, and in the ninth paragraph, which opens with "Phileas Fogg was not known to have either wife or children" continues with "which may happen to the most honest people" as opposed to the original "which honest folk may surely have".
