Dath prepends his story with a short remark about its intention: "A little not-love story about the kind of factories people have to work in after factories have long become unnecessary, and about the question if fiction and speculative fiction maybe are these kinds of factories." (in German: "Eine kleine Nichtliebesgeschichte darüber, in was für Fabriken Menschen arbeiten müssen, wenn Fabriken eigentlich längst überflüssig geworden sind, und darüber, ob Fiktion und Phantastik vielleicht solche Fabriken sind.")
Hannes Riffel describes this story in his introduction to Neue Rundschau #1/2019, where it first appeared in, as a "metafictional essay".
