When the Sleeper Wakes in its 18-part serial (US edition only investigated; Harper's Weekly, 1899) is published with one illustration each issue, above the beginning of the text. Some of them clearly show the distinctive signature "H. Lanos"; some do not, and the first shows a script signature that look like "? Marsh..".
