Synopsis
A colony on Mars (the AI Zhurong and a group of humans) experiment with nanotechnology. After some time the humans can leave their bodies and Zhurong behind. The latter then tries to become better, e.g. by getting more computing power. - This is a retelling of a story from Chinese mythology.
Notes
Title translates as "Zhurong on Mars" (per Hugo 2023 finalist announcement) or "Zhu Rong on Mars" (per Google translate). CSFDB reports a length of 7388 characters.
