Essay starts: "Many were the anthologies of original science fiction that were spawned in the early 1970s, and not a few of them were edited by me. One format that I particularly liked was the novella trio, in which some writer would propound a theme for stories and three other writers independently worked to that theme at short-novel length."

Essay finishes: "There is otherwise no connection between the two stories: I needed a tense wagon journey through a forest, and I knew where a good one was available, and without hesitation I lifted a few choice bits from it and put them in place in my new book. But I did get the permission of the permission of the original author first, at least. Most plagiarists are not that courteous." [Source: PR# 834559]
