A steampunk era daring scientist-explorer discovers that a criminal mastermind has contracted with a mad scientist to use a device (invented by Lord Kelvin) to control the flight of an oncoming comet for purposes of global extortion, and endeavors to defeat the dastardly plotters.
Expanded into a novel in 1992.
