After WW II, Alice Davey (later Alice Sheldon, aka James Tiptree, Jr.), was stationed in Germany in a house with German nationals. They had three Polish refugee girls who worked as household help there, and this is the story of how bad their situation was in Germany. And they were "The Lucky Ones", because they at least had jobs.
