Synopsis
In the future, when everything is taught instantly by directly altering brain structure and people are assigned professions by determining to what type of job the structure of their brain is preconstructed, residents of overcrowded impoverished Earth compete to demonstrate proficiency in some specialty which would make them in demand in a prosperous colony world; but a young man is bitter when it is found that his brain is not amenable to this type of "education," and he is assigned among others like him to an institution for the "feebleminded."
