Earliest written version of the story that became the novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
• Written 1862-63, on 26 November 1864 Charles Lutwidge Dodgson gave Alice Liddell the illustrated manuscript of Alice's Adventures Under Ground. The 15,500 word story was revised and expanded to the 27,500 word novel by Lewis Carroll, published with illustrations by John Tenniel in 1865 as Alice's Adventure in Wonderland.
• The story was first published in 1886 by the Macmillans (London and New York) in a manuscript facsimile edition. Probably some later publications as a facsimile of the illustrated manuscript are in the database as publications of the novelette alone.
