Mrs. Crossland tells about a woman physician who has set up practice in her town and greatly blames her for accepting men as patients, accusing her of stirring up erotic passions in them (including Mrs. Crossland's own husband) and being next thing to a prostitute.
First published simultaneously in The Spirit of the Times and The Pictorial World Christmas Supplement in December 1882. This is one of the stories Collins did not want reprinted after his death. It was never collected in book-form.
