Three sections:
"The Hall of Machines" is a Kafkaesque/Borgesian description of an enormous hall filled with exotic machines and a detailed description of each.
In "The Coming of the Sun" a man sets fire to a building and the event is then described from various points of view outside the building.
"The Eye of the Lens" describes an impressionistic film pondering life, death, and rebirth.
Novelette "The Eye of the Lens" is a concatenation of three short stories, "The Hall of Machines", "The Coming of the Sun", and "The Eye of the Lens." Each is subtitled as a section in the novelette, and each contains subsubsections.
