There is no publication credit for this story in Silverberg's 1973 collection Unfamiliar Territory. However, Roger Elwood's Preface to Androids, Time Machines and Blue Giraffes (Follett Publishing, 1973) notes, "Six of the stories ... were written especially for this anthology. For example, Silverberg's The Mutant Season is an original ....". This is confirmed by Silverberg's intro in his 2008 collection The Collected Stories of Robert Silverberg, Volume Three: Something Wild Is Loose: 1969-72.
