During the Boxer Rebellion, a party of Europeans are besieged by the rebels. When all hope seems lost, one of them, a professor, brings out a pot of caviar for their meal, and all of them eat it except one woman; the professor reproaches her as he expires, because he has poisoned the entire party believing that their fate would be too dreadful if they were captured.
