Synopsis
From the front flap of the St. Martin's Press first American edition: "Curtis MacKinnon is a would-be drifter, a man possessed of unlikely dreams and bad-ass ambitions. Abandoning the fraudulent tropics of Florida for the authentic jungles of Borneo, he fills the role of expatriate rogue well - so well that his delusions and charm make him a genuinely dangerous man, and he is soon forced to take refuge from his troubles in Kalimantan.

This removal from civilization, however, does little to reform him. In hiding, he experiments with the local drug seribu aso, once used by Punan Dayak, a lost race known as "the dream wanderers." The hallucinogen alters not only the perception of the user, but the geography of reality itself. MacKinnon, the world-weary expatriate, believes he has passed through enough geography himself that he can control the drug's powers. He can't, however, control the protective spirits of Kalimantan, be they of this world or not."
