Lyra's adventures with her cat Pantalaimon. It is her daemon. The story is full of daemons, witches, and alchemists, which distort the peaceful university town of Oxford into a gruesome scene. Lyra is actually in danger, but swans save her from the worst. This allows her to continue her studies in peace at St. Sophia's College.
