After being contacted by humans, the technological development of the sentient species living on the surface of a neutron star leaps ahead due to their rapid life cycle. However when a global disaster destroys their civilization and leaves the few survivors in a dark age, the few who had been in space at the time make it their goal to return one day and once again bring their species to the heights from which it had fallen.
