From the introduction in Strange Signposts, "Luis P. Senarens (1865-1939) invented Frank Reade, Jr., the beloved boy inventor who was the true ancestor to Tom Swift. Writing under the pen name of 'Noname,' Senarens produced hundreds of novels about his teenage genius.... This particular excerpt from Frank Reade was published in the October 5, 1894 issue of the Frank Reade Library (and probably was serialized elsewhere earlier.)"
