First published June 1910 in The Idler 37.3, pp. 996-1012, with series banner and 3 illustrations by {{a|Florence Briscoe}} (viewed at HathiTrust). This is the last "Carnacki the Ghost-Finder" story published in The Idler, after a one-month break. It is numbered "No. 5" in the header, but there is no indication (page 996 nor 1012) that the series continues or does not.
Forgotten Futures (forgottenfutures.com) presents the text and illustrations from the magazine publication.
The introduction in volume 2 of "The Collected Fiction of William Hope Hodgson" incorrectly suggests that this story was first published in the May (as opposed to June) 1910 issue of The Idler.
