The narrator is a newspaperman; one day, a man comes to his office and explains that he is the Wandering Jew. Actually, he turns out to be a shoemaker named Mike O'Bader. But when the newspaperman learns O'Bader's entire story, he thinks that the shoemaker chose an apt metaphor to describe himself.
