Septimus Brope is the scholarly editor of <I>Cathedral Monthly</i>. He is also currently writing love-notes to Clovis's aunt's maid, much to the aunt's chagrin. When Clovis investigates, he finds that Brope's intentions are, though not exactly honorable, other than everyone assumed.
