An English traveler is stranded somewhere between Vienna and the Adriatic, in deep snow, with no company but a local woman. He is afraid they will be eaten by wolves but the woman informs him that she, at least, will not be--her saint will protect her since it is her name-day. It seems that this idea will be put to the test when the Englishman sees a pack of wolves approaching.
Non-speculative parody of superstition and the kind of strange dangers expected in Eastern Europe.
