According to a letter from Miriam Allen deFord in Weird Tales Summer 1974, in the letter column The Eyrie, p. 94 and 95, "Ghostly Hands" originally appeared as "The Neatness of Ann Rutledge" in the Westminster magazine in 1924. She notes that she was not notified of its use or paid by Tales of Magic and Mystery.
