At the Bureau

Steve Rasnic Tem

First published November 1980
Type Short Fiction
Length Short Story

A bureaucrat with a 25 year career is the last worker in a now emptied office building, when another person moves into a nearby office; he never sees the new person directly, but through his frosted glass door he sees the man's shadow watching him constantly.

Borderline genre; first person narrator may not be objectively reliable.
