Synopsis

In a small village in the Pyrenees, an artist buys a house with a check for 30,000 francs. However, the locals do not understand the banking system, and believe that the artist is a madman playing them for fools.

Notes

Not a speculative story; the corrupting power of money in this story is metaphorical.
