Thought to be a pseudonym for Malcolm Jameson. Mary MacGregor is the maiden name of Jameson's wife. The story "Transients Only" appeared in the December 1942 issue of Unknown Worlds with the byline "Mary MacGregor" in the table of contents, but attributed to Malcolm Jameson on the cover. A letter to the editor that appeared in the February issue from "Mary MacGregor" makes a funny and indignant complaint about the error, saying "I know darn well I don't want my first and maybe only story to go down the chute as just another Jameson yarn." There's no evidence of other fantasy stories written by a Mary Macgregor from this era, and "Transients Only" resembles Malcolm Jameson's other stories and appears in collections of his work.
