Once a practicing Druid, Chapman later became the wife of a vicar, Charles Sydney Chapman, in 1924. Attracted to feminism and pagan mythology, she didn't begin writing until late in life when a market appeared for such works. Founder of the UK chapter of the Tolkien Society. Born Vera Ivy May Fogerty.
