In 1988, he graduated from Syracuse University with an MA in English, where he studied fiction writing under Douglas Unger and Tobias Wolff. Currently, he teaches Creative Writing at Syracuse University. His short fiction has appeared in Harper's Magazine, The New Yorker, and McSweeney's.
