The author's fictional biography as given in The King of Satan's Eyes: "After serving in the Black Watch during the later years of World War II, Geoffrey Marsh studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, then emigrated to the United States. He taught literature at a private school in New Jersey where he still lives with wife of forty-one years. Of this, his first novel, Mr. Marsh says: "I would not claim that Lincoln Blackthorne is a real person; however, his exploits are close enough to the truth that I sometimes give myself the willies.""
