Illustrator Wallace Wood is best known as a comic book artist. His work was first published around 1950. His art for EC Comics' science fiction titles in the 1950's is still revered by comics fans. He worked on and off for many publishers over the course of his career, often writing as well as drawing stories. His 1960's work on Daredevil (Marvel Comics) and Thunder Agents (Tower Comics) is also well-known and highly regarded. He was a pioneer in self-publishing in the 1960's with the pro-zine Witzend and other special projects.
In 1953-54, he did some illustrations for the science fiction pulp magazine Planet Stories. From 1957 to 1967, he did a few cover paintings and many story illustrations for Galaxy and its companion magazines, If and Worlds of Tomorrow. He also did cover paintings for four paperbacks published in the Galaxy Novels series in 1958.
