- The "Survey of New Books" listed in the TOC is titled "The Patchin Review Survey" in the interior. It is uncredited but is in a conversational tone and appears to have been written by Platt.
- The names "John Smith" and "Jane Doe" are quoted in the TOC (but not on the title pages), while other name are not.
- John Smith, Jane Doe, Cousin Clara, and Gabby Snitch are identified in a later issue as house pseudonyms.
