Credit in The Lilac Fairy Book reads "From the 'Mabinogion.'" This is a much-abridged version of Lady Charlotte Guest's 1838 translation of the medieval Welsh Arthurian romance Iarlles y Ffynawn. Abridgment and adaptation by Andrew Lang or Leonora Lang (as Mrs. Lang).
